Upon learning of the passing of His Majesty Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, I would like to express, on behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, my heartfelt condolences to the members of the royal family and the people of Malaysia. I hear that Yang Di-Pertuan Agong was revered as the head of state by the people of Malaysia since his enthronement in April 1999. |

I sincerely hope that the soul of the late Yang Di-Pertuan Agong will rest in peace and that the people of Malaysia will overcome their sorrow. It is also my hope that the people of Malaysia will continue to uphold the ideals of the late Yang Di-Pertuan Agong by pursuing further development of the state and continue striving for the peace and stability of the region. |
