Branch for IT Security
Cabinet Office for National Security Affairs and Crisis Management


  1. Inter-ministerial Coordination Body
    -- Established by the Prime Minister's Decision on Feb. 29, 2000 under the auspice of the Advanced Information and Telecommunication Society Promotion Headquarters.
    -- Composed of Director-General-Level officer responsible for IT Security designated by every ministry or agency.

  2. Wise men committee for IT Security
    -- Established by the PM's Decision on Feb. 29, 2000 under the auspice of the Advanced Information and Telecommunication Society Promotion Headquarters.
    -- Composed of academia, experts and representatives of the private companies in such sectors as IT Security, critical infrastructure.
    -- Following two Working Group were created under this committee.
    i. Working Group on IT security
    ii. Working Group on Cyber terrorism

  3. "Branch for IT Security"
    By the PM's Decision on Feb. 29, "Branch for IT Security" was established in Cabinet Office in order to better coordinate the policy and measures among ministries and agencies. The branch is composed of experts from ministries and agencies concerned and from private sectors.
    In addition, "The Expert Team" has been created in Branch for IT Security. This team is tasked to survey security measure of every ministry and agency and to give advice to them.
