I am Takahashi from the Yomiuri Shimbun. Former Prime Minister FUKUDA Yasuo, who served as Japan's 91st Prime Minister, has passed away. Could you tell us your thoughts on his passing, including your reflections on his achievements?
(Prime Minister Takaichi)
I have just visited his bereaved family to pay my final respects to former Prime Minister FUKUDA Yasuo.
I am deeply saddened by his passing.
Former Prime Minister Fukuda served our nation as Prime Minister. He also served for many years as Chief Cabinet Secretary. Drawing on his wealth of experience and exceptional insight, he devoted himself tirelessly to addressing one difficult challenge after another.
As Prime Minister, he placed particular emphasis on consumer affairs administration, working hard to ensure the safety and peace of mind of the Japanese people.
He also addressed various challenges facing the international community as Chair of the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, while significantly raising Japan's profile on the world stage.
As I reflect on his remarkable achievements, I would like once again to offer my deepest condolences and pay my heartfelt respects to his memory.
