I am Tsurudome with Kyodo News. Thank you for taking my question. Madame Prime Minister, you just held a telephone call with President Trump of the United States. As the call took place immediately after President Trump wrapped up his visit to China, would you tell us what kind of explanation you received from President Trump, and what you conveyed to him during the conversation? In addition, was the situation surrounding Taiwan discussed during the call? Thank you.
(Prime Minister Takaichi)
I have just held a telephone call with President Trump. President Trump called me from Air Force One immediately after concluding his visit to China.
During the call, President Trump explained his visit to China in quite a lot of detail, and we exchanged views primarily on issues related to China, covering economic affairs, including economic security, as well as security affairs. We agreed to continue maintaining close communication in responding to developments in the Indo-Pacific region.
We also exchanged views on the situation surrounding Iran. I reiterated Japan's basic position that it is of utmost importance to steadily achieve de-escalation of the situation as soon as possible. We reaffirmed that Japan and the United States will continue to engage in close communication on the matter.
We had a very productive discussion today, and I was able to reaffirm with President Trump the unwavering Japan-U.S. Alliance. We also said we both look forward to meeting again on the occasion of next month’s G7 Summit, and we will continue to work in close cooperation. That is all from me.

I am Echigo with Jiji Press. I have one follow-up question, if I may. Did President Trump mention whether there were any exchanges concerning Japan during the U.S.-China summit meeting? In addition, regarding the safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, was there any renewed request for cooperation from President Trump’s side?
(Prime Minister Takaichi)
President Trump shared with me the details of the discussions on the understanding that I would not disclose the specifics publicly. We also discussed the situation surrounding Iran. With regard to Japan, President Trump expressed deep appreciation for the considerable support Japan has provided. I hope you understand that I am unable to comment on matters beyond this. Thank you.
