On October 26, 2026, Prime Minister Takaichi attended a Government-Ruling Parties Liaison Meeting at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Prime Minister said in her opening remarks as follows:
(Prime Minister Takaichi)
Thank you all for your hard work.
Thank you all for your hard work.
Today marks the first Government-Ruling Parties Liaison Meeting since the inauguration of the Second Reshuffled Takaichi Cabinet.
In this Cabinet reshuffle, Minister NAKATSUKASA Hiroshi of the Japan Innovation Party joined the Cabinet, while members of both parties have also been serving actively as State Ministers and Parliamentary Vice-Ministers. As a result, the relationship between our two parties has grown stronger in both name and substance.
I look forward to continuing to work together as one, as the Government and ruling parties, in managing the affairs of government, and I ask for your continued support and cooperation.
Since our previous meeting, the Japanese archipelago has been struck by a succession of natural disasters, including the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake, torrential downpours, other earthquakes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall.
Once again, I offer my deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families, and extend my heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by these disasters.
The Disaster Management Agency, which will be established next week, on November 2, will serve as the central command body for disaster response, with an integrated framework covering everything from preparedness in ordinary times to responses following a disaster. Through this, we will realize seamless disaster management administration.
The establishment of the Disaster Management Agency was a plan to which former Prime Minister Ishiba devoted great passion, and I am determined to ensure that the Agency gets off to a solid start.
Turning to foreign affairs, I visited New York in the United States, where:
- Through meetings with the United States, Ukraine, Türkiye, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, I reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening cooperation; and - In my general debate address at the United Nations General Assembly, as you are aware, I conveyed Japan's commitment to maintaining and developing a free and open international order based on the rule of law, as well as to multilateralism.
Furthermore, during the extraordinary session of the Diet that began this month, we intend to deliver concrete results through legislation that directly affects the lives of the Japanese people, including the Consumption Tax and Working Individuals' Burden Relief Support Benefit Bill and the Bill on Diversification of Crude Oil Procurement in Response to the Situation in the Middle East.
I therefore ask for your support in securing the early passage of these bills and other legislative measures.
In addition, the FY2027 budget, which is currently being formulated, will be the first budget to reflect the budget formulation reforms pursued by the Takaichi Cabinet from the initial budget request stage.
Under our policy of responsible and proactive public finances, we will:
- Vigorously encourage domestic investment, with the Japan Growth Strategy and the Strategy for the Future of Regions serving as the two driving forces; and - Develop budgetary and tax measures befitting the Takaichi Cabinet, aimed at achieving both a strong economy and fiscal sustainability through a comprehensive review of expenditures and revenues, including strengthened efforts under the Japanese version of DOGE.
I ask all members of the ruling parties for your cooperation in advancing these initiatives as well.
Thank you very much.
