On September 17, 2026, Prime Minister Takaichi carried out the first Cabinet reshuffle since the inauguration of the Second Takaichi Cabinet.
After collecting letters of resignation from the Cabinet members at an extraordinary Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Takaichi held a meeting of the ruling parties’ leaders with Mr. FUJITA Fumitake, Co-Leader of the Japan Innovation Party (JIP), followed by the announcement of the list of Cabinet members by Mr. KIHARA Minoru, Chief Cabinet Secretary. Afterwards, a certification ceremony for the newly appointed Ministers was held at the Imperial Palace, marking the inauguration of the Reshuffled Second Takaichi Cabinet. Prime Minister Takaichi then held a press conference regarding the Cabinet reshuffle.
Afterwards, Prime MInister held the first Cabinet meeting, followed by a commemorative photograph with the Cabinet members.
