Visit to Kumamoto Prefecture to Inspect the Damage Caused by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake

On August 3, 2026, Prime Minister TAKAICHI visited Kumamoto Prefecture to inspect the damage caused by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.
The Prime Minister conducted an aerial inspection from the Takayubaru Vice-Camp of the Japan Self-Defense Force in Kumamoto Prefecture. She then visited an evacuation shelter in Hikawa Town, where she encouraged Japan Air Self-Defense Force personnel and exchanged views with people affected by the disaster.
The Prime Minister next visited the Kumamoto Prefectural Disaster Management Center, where she exchanged views with Governor KIMURA Takashi of Kumamoto Prefecture. She then visited the On-site Response Headquarters to encourage personnel engaged in the disaster response.
Finally, the Prime Minister held a press conference on her inspection of the affected areas.
