On March 31, 2026, Prime Minister Takaichi held the fifth meeting of the Japan Exposition Comprehensive Promotion Council at the Prime Minister’s Office.
At the meeting, the participants engaged in discussions on the Japan Cultural Expo.
Following the discussion, the Prime Minister said:
“Let me express my appreciation to the members of the Council. Japan abounds with wonderful culture, arts, traditions, and history. It is important to fully leverage these values found in regional areas.
In future iterations of the Japan Cultural Expo, we will strive to make the Japanese archipelago more beautiful, stronger, and more prosperous by promoting our appealing culture and arts.
To that end, we would like to emphasize the following three points as new perspectives:
The first is to open up new possibilities for Japan by re-evaluating regional cultural resources and promoting their appeal both in Japan and abroad.
The second is to fully utilize diverse traditional cultures and content of regional areas, so that we can offer high value-added experiences.
The third is to collaborate with international projects, such as GREEN × EXPO 2027, Yokohama Japan, to deepen understanding of Japanese culture and arts both domestically and internationally.
I request that the relevant ministries and agencies work closely together to ensure that the effects of these concrete initiatives spread across Japan, making efforts in various parts of the country sustainable. I also ask for the continued dedication and support of the members of the Council. Thank you very much.”
