A multiple check system for entrance and exit has been introduced at the Kantei, and an advanced security system is in operation.

The Prime Minister's Official Residence Guard of the Metropolitan Police Department was reorganized for the new Kantei, and the personnel are fully prepared for any contingency, including terrorism. The members of the guard are an elite chosen from among riot police and other units, and are an average age of 30 years old. Among their number are some who speak foreign languages or can use sign language, in anticipation of a variety of situations.

On the left sleeve of uniform is an emblem with a motif of the horned owl, the "guardian" of the former Kantei.

Besides, the entire new Kantei is protected by the newest earthquake-resisting system, built to withstand a Great Hanshi-Awaji-scale earthquake, and measures are in place to deal with any such emergency situation, whenever it should arise.
