The Japanese Horse Chestnut Wood Reception Room - the Special Reception Room
Special Reception Room
Special Reception Room
The Special Reception Room on the fourth floor is used mainly for meetings with small numbers of people, particularly summit meetings, and for the Prime Minister to receive guests. Through this reception room is an additional meeting room.

It is in this reception room that the Prime Minister is photographed by reporters with leaders of other countries. The adjacent meeting room is equipped with a table of about 2.5 meters in diameter over which fellow leaders can enjoy friendly talks.

These rooms, with their luminous ceiling reminiscent of Japanese paper, and their walls striped with Japanese horse chestnut wood and stainless steel are ones that overall has a rather bright feeling. As a space used to warmly welcome foreign guests, the light quality of the Japanese horse chestnut wood is most appropriate.
