Q&As

REPORTER: The security legislation was approved at the plenary session of the House of Representatives and was sent to the House of Councillors. Could you give us your comments?

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: First of all, as I have stated repeatedly, the Legislation for Peace and Security is an essential legislation for securing the lives and peaceful daily lives of the Japanese people amid the extremely severe security environment surrounding Japan, including North Korea’s nuclear and missile development. This legislation was approved at the House of Representatives, and deliberations will now begin at the House of Councillors. This legislation is vital for the lives and peaceful daily lives of the Japanese people. In order for this legislation to gain further traction among the Japanese people, the Government will provide detailed and careful explanations throughout the discussions at the House of Councillors.
