REPORTER: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of the United States has officially announced her candidacy for the next presidential election. She will be aiming to become the first female president of the United States. Can you please share your comments?

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: The Government would like to refrain from commenting on individual candidates of the presidential elections of other countries. Having said that, the outcome of the U.S. presidential election will have a significant impact on the international community, including Japan. In that regard, Japan, as a U.S. ally, is following the developments of the presidential race closely. That is the Government’s position.
