Establishment of the Headquarters for the Promotion of Measures Against Firearms

1.In light of the difficult situation surrounding firearms recently, the Headquarters for the Promotion of Measures Against Firearms (hereinafter referred to as "the Headquarters") shall be established inside the Cabinet in order to secure close coordination among the administrative agencies concerned while promoting strict regulation of firearms, publicity and educational campaigns that seek public understanding and cooperation and other comprehensive and active measures.
2.The Headquarters consist of the following members. The Chair may, however, increase the membership when deemed necessary.

Director-General of the Criminal Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Justice
Director-General of the Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice
Director-General of the Consular and Migration Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Director-General of the Customs and Tariff Bureau, Ministry of Finance
Deputy Director-General of the Fisheries Agency
Director-General of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
Director-General of the Policy Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Vice Commandant, Japan Coast Guard
Director-General of the Natural Environment Bureau, Ministry of the Environment
3.A Secretary shall be appointed within the Headquarters. The Secretary shall be a civil servant of one of the administrative agencies concerned and holding an appointment designated by the Chair.
4.The administrative affairs of the Headquarters shall be handled by the Cabinet Office with the cooperation of the National Police Agency.
5.Matters concerning the operation of the Headquarters and other necessary matters other than those stipulated in the preceding Paragraphs shall be determined by the Chair.
