[Provisional Translation]

On Sunday, June 17, Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Los Cabos, Mexico to attend the G20 Summit Meeting, held a Japan-Mexico Summit Meeting with H. E. Mr. Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, President of the Mexican United States, at Fiesta Americana from 7:45 pm to 8:20 pm (local time). An overview of the meeting is as follows:

1. Bilateral relations
   
   (1) Prime Minister Noda expressed his gratitude for President Calderon's efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, including his three visits to Japan during his tenure. Moreover, Prime Minister Noda expressed his gratitude for support from Mexico in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake, such as dispatching an emergency relief team, as well as for Mexico's invitation for children from Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture this coming August. President Calderon stated that it was very unfortunate that Prime Minister Noda is returning to Japan early (Note: Prime Minister Noda is to return to Japan after the first day of the G20 Summit Meeting is over), but welcomed the Prime Minister's visit to Mexico amid his busy schedule, and expressed his desire for the Prime Minister to make an official visit to Mexico again.
   
   (2) Furthermore, President Calderon stated that bilateral relations are in quite favorable conditions, and that he appreciated investments by Japanese enterprises in Mexico. Prime Minister Noda, welcoming the fact that the economic relations between the two countries are steadily expanding due to the Japan-Mexico Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), expressed his concerns over the agreement on the revision of the Complementary Economic Accord (ACE 55) between Mexico and Brazil, which would impact Japanese enterprises making new investments and expanding in Mexico. In response, President Calderon stated that it was important to proceed with free trade, and the two leaders shared views on appealing for the importance of free trade at the G20 summit meeting.
   
   
2. G20
   
   Prime Minister Noda stated that in the G20 summit meeting, it will be important to send a political message announcing that the major countries will take a cooperated approach with the current global economy. In response, President Calderon paid his respect to Japan's contribution of 60 billion USD to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and stated that Mexico was also prepared to contribute some billions in USD to the IMF. Furthermore, the two leaders shared views on the importance of contribution to the IMF by other countries.
   
   
3. TPP
   
   The two leaders shared views on closely carrying out an exchange of opinions in the future with regards to the negotiations toward the participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations. President Calderon stated that he expected progress with the issue during the Summit Meeting between the United States and Mexico to be held during the G20 summit meeting.
   
   
4. Pacific Alliance
   
   Prime Minister Noda stated that he would like to exchange opinions with the Pacific Alliance, which promotes free trade.
   
   
5. Other
   
   The two leaders confirmed that they would continue to cooperate in fields such as the United Nations' Security Council reforms, Rio+20, climate changes, post Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and disarmament and non-proliferation. Furthermore, when Prime Minister Noda gave an explanation on North Korean issues, President Calderon showed his understanding of Japan's explanation and expressed his intention to cooperate with Japan for a solution to the abduction issue.
