Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the 11th meeting of the Council on National Strategy and Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.

At this meeting, opinions were exchanged on the future economic policy management, including the situation of the implementation and promotion of the Strategy for Rebirth of Japan, and other matters.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

"Overcoming deflation is an issue that the Japanese economy has been facing for more than ten years. Lately, the Government and the Bank of Japan compiled a joint document on efforts for early overcoming of deflation for the first time. I expect the Bank of Japan to continue with its strong monetary easing. I would like to ask relevant ministers to put further efforts into changing the economic structure that easily generates deflation, as well as to work expeditiously on the formulation of economic measures that have prompt effect and lead to demand stimulation, so as to respond to concerns on future economic downturn.
In addition, in order to aim for strong growth through overcoming deflation and reviving economy, steady implementation of the Strategy for Rebirth of Japan becomes necessary. I would like to ask for the relevant ministers to exert their leadership to cope with this.
In doing so, effective and efficient allocation of policy resources is important, so that maximum effect can be exerted from a limited amount of resources. Based on the Mindset for the Allocation of Policy Resources, which we have discussed today, I expect the bold selection and concentration of policy resources."
