Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the 29th meeting of the Government Revitalization Unit at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the "new review of government programs," review after the final disclosure of the administrative programs review sheet, and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address,

"We have been engaged in the review of administrative programs, proposal-based policy review, and review of government programs in the formulation of the budget three times since we took over the government, which served as a strong power to push forward various reforms including the review of clerical work and projects for independent administrative agencies.
We must unceasingly carry forward these efforts and link them with reforms, also in order for the administration to win the trust of the people. The "new review of government programs" will be held next week, and I expect that a thorough discussion involving many citizens will take place.
I would also like to expect that a mechanism for the people, who are the sovereign of the country, to check the administration for themselves will further take root and be instilled through these measures.
As for the reconstruction budget, we must listen earnestly to the opinions asking to use the budget by putting top priority on the reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas. While sufficiently allocating the budget for the true needs in the disaster-stricken areas, I would like to strictly narrow down allocation for other purposes.
I would like to ask for sufficient check also in this context in the "new review of government programs."
I would like to ask for your continuous cooperation."
