Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the 103rd meeting of the Council for Science and Technology Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "Science and technology innovation is the engine for growth, generating added values and employment. The promotion of such innovation is precisely investment for the future. I would like scientists and experts to aggressively tackle the various issues Japan is currently facing.
Based on the discussion today, I would like to ask the Council for Science and Technology Policy to compile the policy for responses to be taken in terms of the necessary measures to realize innovation, such as system development, by the end of the year.
The promotion of science and technology innovation is an important pillar of the national strategy. From now on, the government is determined to strongly back up the promotion of science and technology innovation, by eliminating the vertically segmented bureaucracy in relevant ministries and agencies and boldly prioritizing allocation upon the formulation of the budget, based on the resources allocation policy that was decided today."
