Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the seventh meeting of the Council on National Strategy and Policy for 2012 at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the Strategy for the Rebirth of Japan (draft plan).

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems and the revitalization of the Japanese economy are topics that require a comprehensive approach.
The draft plan of the Strategy for the Rebirth of Japan presented today shows the roadmap for the revitalization of the Japanese economy. I would like to mention three points toward the final compilation of the strategy.
First, because the resources that can be inputted for the realization of measures are limited, the cross-sectional projects that require especially prompt implementation should be further improved in terms of content, in order to lift up the economic growth and improve people's lives.
Second, a mechanism to securely implement the content of the strategy under the Council on National Strategy and Policy should be included, such as measures to overcome deflation and to prioritize budget allocation.
Third, in order to realize the Strategy for the Rebirth of Japan, gaining the understanding of the people and industry is important above all. Thus, it should be compiled with attention to further ease of understanding.
Based on the discussion today, I would like for the council to further carry forward the final compilation work."
