Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda attended a meeting of the third Frontier Subcommittee of the Council on National Strategy and Policy held at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussions took place on streamlining the points of discussion for the mid-term report.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "The economy and business in this country may dwindle if Japan is content with the status quo. Considering the future of this country, it is necessary to develop frontiers and pave the way for the future with far-reaching forethought. I would like to ask the subcommittee to present a vision for revitalizing this country once again by having Japan, as a frontrunner, offer a model to the rest of the world and take initiative in international rule-making.
I expect an active exchange of opinions today on messages to which attention should be called in the mid-term report, scheduled to be compiled by around May, based on the points of discussion streamlined by each panel."
