Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held and delivered an address at the 56th meeting of the Strategic Headquarters for the Promotion of an Advanced Information and Telecommunications Network Society (IT Strategic Headquarters) at the Diet building.

Discussion took place on the establishment of the Advisory Council for Government Information System Revitalization and the Council for the Promotion of Disaster Management IT Lifeline.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "It is essential that the use of IT is examined as a lifeline for disaster management based on the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Government will strive to materialize this objective quickly and develop the world's most advanced disaster management IT lifeline through public and private sector cooperation.
Administrative reform must be promoted holistically together with the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems. As part of the administrative reform, the revitalization and consolidation of the Government's information system is also a critical issue. The Government will make proactive efforts to address this issue, along with promoting more efficient administrative operations through IT.
I ask that the relevant ministers demonstrate leadership and make further efforts to see to it that the outputs of the IT Strategic Headquarters are incorporated into the Strategy for Revitalizing Japan and that Japan leads the world in IT."
