Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the sixth meeting of the Council on National Strategy and Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the Basic Strategy for Revitalizing Japan (Draft) and the entry into new frontiers.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The Basic Strategy for Revitalizing Japan compiled today is positioned as a roadmap for the revival of Japan, in order for us to overcome a range of national crises including the Great East Japan Earthquake and recover hope and pride in the country.
A report was presented from Minister Motohisa Furukawa concerning energy and environmental policies and overseas deployment of integrated infrastructure systems, which are important pillars of the Basic Strategy. Another report was presented from Minister Tatsuo Kawabata concerning special zones for future eco-cities as a comprehensive special zone scheme.
I have renewed my resolve to steadily implement these policies.
Also, concerning new frontiers, which is considered to be a key concept of the Basic Strategy, especially from a medium- and long-term perspective, lively discussion was held with Chairman Takashi Onishi of the Frontier Subcommittee.
What is important above all is to materialize this Basic Strategy compiled today, and to develop it further. I would like to continue working on this issue, gathering your expertise, toward the formulation of the Strategy for Revitalizing Japan in the middle of next year."
