Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda received the National Personnel Authority (NPA) Recommendation from Mr. Takeshi Erikawa, President of the NPA, at the Prime Minister's Office.

In regard to national public servants in regular service positions, for FY2011 the NPA has recommended that the Diet and the Cabinet reduce salary schedules targeting those above the age of 40 and mainly those in their 50s, in order to bridge the gap wherein remunerations for national public servants are above those in the private sector.
In consideration of the principles of the Basic Act on Reform of National Public Officers' Systems, the NPA has also recommended the revision of the National Public Service Act in order to raise the retirement age of national public servants, which is currently set at 60, gradually up to 65 in the period from FY2013 to FY2025, in accordance with the increase in the age at which citizens are eligible to receive public pension benefits.
