| On the morning of 22 October 2000, Prime Minister Mori met with Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Kantei (Official Residence of the Prime Minister). At the meeting the two leaders agreed that the two countries should enter into formal negotiations with a view to concluding a Japan-Singapore Economic Agreement for a New Age Partnership.
