Prime Minister Visits Okinawa

Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori visited Okinawa Prefecture for the first time since assuming office. He attended the inauguration ceremony of the Bankoku Shinryokan, the main venue of the July Group of Eight Kyushu-Okinawa Summit, and toured Shuri Castle and other Summit-related sites. Speaking at the Bankoku Shinryokan ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized his wish to "send out a bright and powerful message from Okinawa." He also attended the Elementary and Junior High School Students' Summit in Okinawa, organized by the Okinawa G8 Summit Host Preparation Council, and received the declaration issued by the Students' Summit.
