Prime Minister Inspects the Disaster Areas Caused by the Eruption of Mt. Usu

Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori inspected the disaster areas afflicted by the volcanic eruptions of Mt. Usu in Hokkaido. Prime Minister Mori inspected the craters of Mt. Konpira at the Lake Toya Hot Spring Resort, after which he visited the local residents who have been forced to take shelter in emergency temporary housing and offered words of sympathy and encouragement. Hokkaido Prefectural Governor Tatsuya Hori and other local officials briefed the Prime Minister on the extent of the damage, conveyed their requests to the central Government and discussed with the Prime Minister what needs to be done to ensure rehabilitation and restoration of the damaged areas.
