On the afternoon of 16 December 2000, Prime Minister Mori visited the "Eco-Products 2000" exhibition at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center with Ms. Yoriko KAWAGUCHI, Director-General of the Environment Agency.
At the "Eco-Products 2000" exhibition, which was held from 14 to 16 December 2000, 300 companies exhibited their eco-products, i.e., products and services that have minimal impact on the global environment.
Ms. Kawaguchi, who has been serving as Director-General of the Environment Agency since 4th July 2000, is to assume the new post of Minister of the Environment as from 6th January 2001 as a Ministry of the Environment shall be established.
