On September 4, 2004, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi sent a message to Mr. Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, concerning the hostage crisis at a school in the Republic of North Ossetia in southern Russia. The message was transmitted via the Embassy of Japan in Russia. In his message, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his deep shock and strong outrage at the loss of the lives of many citizens including children in this terrorist attack and expressed his condolences for the victims of the incident and their bereaved family members, as well as strongly denouncing acts of terrorism.
