Japan-Antigua and Barbuda Summit Meeting
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a meeting with the Hon. Baldwin Spencer, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, one of the island nations in the Caribbean Sea, Central America.
The summit touched on the annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) scheduled in June. Prime Minister Koizumi asked for cooperation on the whaling issue from the standpoint of the sustainable use of living marine resources, and Prime Minister Spencer supported the idea.
The two leaders also discussed the attraction of Japanese tourists to the Caribbean region and reform of the United Nations Security Council, respectively.
