Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi paid a courtesy call on His Majesty Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia who is on his visit to Japan as State Guest.

A ceremony was held in the morning at the State Guest House in Moto-Akasaka in Tokyo to welcome the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to Japan with the attendance of Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress, His Imperial Highness The Crown Prince, other imperial family members, Prime Minister Koizumi and government officials.

Prime Minister Koizumi visited the State Guest House in the afternoon to pay a courtesy call on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The courtesy visit took place in a cordial atmosphere and Prime Minister Koizumi offered his words of encouragement in regard to the damages caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Malaysia which occurred at the end of last year. Prime Minister Koizumi and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong then talked about the significance of this visit by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as well as the good bilateral relations between Japan and Malaysia.
