Second Day of the Prime Minister's Visit to the U.S. and the Middle East Friday, May 23, 2003 Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held talks with Mr. George W. Bush, the President of the United States, in Crawford, Texas on the morning of May 23 (late night of May 23, Japan Time). The leaders shared the view that they would seek a peaceful solution to the issue of North Korea's nuclear development program and exchanged opinions on assistance measures for the reconstruction of Iraq, economic matters and other issues. After the summit meeting, they held a joint press conference. In the evening of the same day, Prime Minister Koizumi headed for his next destination, Cairo, where he is to exchange opinions with Mr. Hosny Mubarak, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the issue of peace in the Middle East and assistance measures for the reconstruction of Iraq on the evening of May 24 (dawn of May 25, Japan Time).
