Prime Minister Gives Instructions to Presidents of Special Public Institutions

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi called 27 presidents of special public institutions together to the Prime Minister's Official Residence and instructed them to take a proactive approach to reform of special public institutions.

At the gathering, Prime Minister Koizumi stated, "Special public institutions reform is one important pillar of the Koizumi Cabinet's structural reform. The content of the Reorganization and Rationalization Plan goes into considerable detail, but it will be meaningless unless we are steadily able to put it into effect. I would like you to take a proactive approach in this regard, playing the leadership role in your organizations. If necessary, I may have you make reports directly to me."

Prime Minister Koizumi had already issued instructions regarding the promotion of special public institutions reform to all of the Cabinet Ministers and the Administrative Vice-Ministers of each ministry at the Informal Cabinet Meeting following the Cabinet Meeting of July 9 and the Administrative Vice-Minister Level Meeting of July 22.
