Anniversary of the Signing of the
San Francisco Peace Treaty

Prime Minister Junicihiro Koizumi attended a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the San Francisco Peace Treaty held at the concert hall of Tokyo Opera City in Nishi Shinjuku, Tokyo.|
This ceremony was held as one of a number of events to convey a message of gratitude for the various support and cooperation provided by the United States in Japan's post-war drive towards reconstruction, democratization and the development of a free economy.
The Prime Minister stated that, "The importance of the Japan-US alliance is increasing not just in the Asia-Pacific region, but around the world. We will continue to make all efforts to further the Japan-United States partnership in the 21st century."
