Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the sixth meeting of the Council for the Realization of the Revival of the Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery Industries at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the midterm proposal for the revival of the food, agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries in Japan.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "From now on we will endeavor to revive the agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries based on this midterm proposal. It has been suggested that we should compete on quality rather than quantity. I believe that it is necessary to promptly materialize these policies in order to highlight the appeal of Japanese food and draw forth the latent strengths of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries."
