Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the fourth meeting of the Task Force for Measures against Suicide at the Cabinet Office.

Discussion took place on recent trends of suicide, interviews from Iwate Prefecture, and considerations for emergency measures.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Suicide is a major social issue in Japan. Efforts to tackle it should not be relaxed with political shifts and changes. I will do everything in my power to support these efforts."
