Prime Minister Naoto Kan held a meeting of the Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on global standardization and the promotion of "Cool Japan," following which the Intellectual Property Strategic Program 2011 was decided.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "Discussion advanced at today's meeting with global standardization and Cool Japan identified as two of our strategies. I truly appreciate that the Intellectual Property Strategic Program 2011 was decided at this meeting.
While the Great East Japan Earthquake may have tarnished the Cool Japan brand, the courageous and orderly conduct of the Japanese people has been respected and has struck a chord with people around the world. I strongly feel this is another major asset which comprises Cool Japan in the broad sense."
