Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the fifth meeting of the Review Meeting on Economic Situations held at the Diet building.

Discussion took place on the Draft Outline of the General Guidelines for Policy Implementation.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "Continuing on from the last meeting, I asked that discussion be made on the Draft Outline of the General Guidelines for Policy Implementation following the great earthquake.
The discussion of how we should move forward with regard to the issues such as the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems, growth strategy, environment and energy strategy, comprehensive economic partnerships, and revitalization of the agricultural industry, in consideration of the situation after the earthquake, will be made again at the gathering of all ministers after the Cabinet meeting.
I would like to follow through the Guidelines in directing the policy implementation for the whole of Japan with the determination to start the process for creating a new Japan."
