Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the third meeting of the Headquarters to Promote Reform of the System for Persons with Disabilities at the Diet building.

Discussion took place on the bill to partially revise the Basic Act for Persons with Disabilities, and other matters.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The revision of the Basic Act for Persons with Disabilities is intended to realize a society where all people, regardless of whether they have or do not have disabilities, can coexist. The discussion was held to incorporate this right thinking, basic principle into the newly revised law. For its part, I would like the government to continue its efforts toward the enactment of the bill.
Furthermore, our efforts would not end with the enactment of the bill. Positioning this as a major step forward to further advance the reform of the system for persons with disabilities, I would also like each ministry and agency to make efforts in their respective responsibility."
