Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the third Ministerial Meeting on the Situation in the Middle East at the Diet building.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The situation in the Middle East and North Africa continues to be unpredictable. Particularly in Libya, fighting has been continuing for an extended period. I would like to discuss our responses following the adoption of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1970 at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
As for the issue of energy and the economic aspect, I asked for various kinds of information to be gathered mainly by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and would like the related ministries to cooperate intensively."
