Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the Handover Ceremony for the Remains of the War Dead in Ioto, held at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and hosted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

During the ceremony, the Japanese government's dispatched team for the recovery of the remains of the war dead handed the remains of 822 war dead recovered in Ioto over to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

After delivering an address, Prime Minister Kan offered a silent prayer and a flower for the recovered remains.
