Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the third meeting of the Council for the Realization of the Revival of the Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery Industries at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the overall outline of the main points of the mid-term report to be compiled in March and the next steps to be taken, as well as considerations for strengthening the competitiveness of the field crop agriculture industry, among other matters.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "I feel we are gradually beginning to see a direction towards a truly positive revival of the agriculture industry, or in other words, a vision which reaffirms that we can succeed with an aggressive agricultural policy.
I ask that you do your utmost as we prepare to hold forums all across the country in order for the fruitful and positive discussions of this Council to reach more stakeholders."
