Prime Minister Naoto Kan visited Okinawa Prefecture.

Upon arrival in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, the Prime Minister visited a new cargo terminal building in Naha Airport and then moved to the Okinawa Prefectural Office where he held a meeting with Mr. Hirokazu Nakaima, Governor of Okinawa Prefecture.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Kan made comments, saying, "I have just had a meeting with Governor Nakaima, which I arranged with the intention of explaining my views to the Governor as well as the people of Okinawa Prefecture. Today and tomorrow, I will observe various sites related to economic promotion measures and the military bases, to see with my own eyes the actual situation of Okinawa. I thus ask for your understanding."

Later, the Prime Minister visited a site returned from the US Forces in Japan, and the Okinawa IT Shinryo Park in Uruma City.
