Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the sixth meeting of the Employment Strategy Dialogue at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the draft of the Employment Strategy Dialogue Accord.

The Prime Minister said in his address, "I believe that today's discussion has made apparent the fact that real progress cannot be made as long as the issue is only dealt with in an abstract way by the government alone.
That is why I have sought a certain consensus on how we should proceed forward, inviting representatives from labor organizations, industry, and people engaged in various social activities to this meeting. For its part, the government will implement what has been agreed upon. In addition, each party is expected to make efforts for their respective responsibilities. I think that this is important especially when it comes to employment.
I am always repeating the slogan 'employment, employment, employment' because I believe that expanded employment will help Japan overcome deflation and put the economy back on the path toward growth. I am confident that this will also make society more vibrant. I ask for further contributions from all of you to make sure that what has been agreed upon today spurs these trends."
