Prime Minister Naoto Kan held a meeting of the Ministerial Committee on the Formulation of the Budget at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, the evaluation council on the "special funding to bring vigor back to Japan" presented its interim report.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "I envision the FY2011 budget to be focused on growth and employment as mutually complementary elements. The budget should be formulated in such a way that growth will generate employment and employment will catalyze growth. I ask you to formulate the budget with that focus. Another point I want to emphasize is that the budget should have clear priorities, boldly cutting what should be cut and increasing what should be increased."
