Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the third meeting of the Tax Commission in FY2010, chaired by Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, Minister of Finance, at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on a report from the project team studying the effect of the halting of tax credits, a report from the experts' committee on "Points at Issue Relating to the Improvement of the Tax Payment System," and other issues.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "As we approach what is the launching ceremony, as it were, of the guidelines of the reform of the tax system in FY2011, I would like each member to again consider the founding principles of this commission and thoroughly discuss how the taxation system should be adapted."
