Prime Minister Naoto Kan visited Fukuoka Prefecture and observed a light-emitting diode (LED) chip factory and a lithium-ion battery electrode factory in Kitakyushu City, in order to grasp the situation surrounding export-related issues faced by companies and factories arising from the strengthening of the yen.

The Prime Minister observed facilities such as the production line at the LED chip factory. Afterwards, the Prime Minister observed the facilities of the lithium-ion battery electrode factory and then held a roundtable meeting with people related to the factories.
