Prime Minister Naoto Kan received a courtesy call from Mr. Soichi Noguchi, an astronaut, at the Prime Minister's Office.

Astronaut Noguchi was on mission in space for 163 days from December 21, 2009 to June 2, 2010, during which he was engaged with scientific experiments, system maintenance, and other operations in 'Kibo,' Japan's laboratory module in space, on the International Space Station (ISS).

Prime Minister Kan received explanation from Astronaut Noguchi on the content of his experiments, using a model of the ISS as a reference. The Prime Minister was also presented with a photograph of Mount Fuji taken from space by Astronaut Noguchi.
