Prime Minister Naoto Kan held a Ministerial Meeting on Lawsuits at the Prime Minister's Office.

The purpose of the meeting is for the entire Cabinet to take a consistent response toward large-scale lawsuits and lawsuits that have significant social and political impact, so as to seek solutions that are fairer and gain broad understanding and cooperation from the people.

At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister delivered an address, saying, "By starting such a meeting today we will be able to take thorough and responsible action overall, and as a result, I hope that the people will seek a direction that will lead to even better solutions in a swift manner."
