About the Nuclear Disaster Expert Group

The group is comprised of the following eight members (in the order of the Japanese syllabary):

Upon the request of the Prime Minister's Office and whenever needed, the Nuclear Disaster Expert Group advises on the issues concerning the nuclear power plant crisis, providing their expertise as external specialists in radiation medicine, radiological protection and science. The main issues handled by the group include the following:

  • Ensuring the safety of people who are forced to take shelter, evacuate or relocate.
  • Long term medical care and health management of the affected people.
  • Other general issues related to the health effects of radiation.
