Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda held talks with Mr. Stephen Joseph Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Fukuda thanked Prime Minister Harper, saying, "I very much appreciate your cooperation during the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit. Since we saw face to face on each of the last few days, I feel we are like brothers. I was greatly inspired by the many sincere and forward-looking remarks that you made in discussions at the Summit." Then, the two leaders exchanged opinions on issues including global warming, and confirmed that the two countries will cooperate in creating a post-Kyoto Protocol international framework.
