Ceremony of Reverence at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery

Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda attended the Ceremony of Reverence at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery held in the presence of Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.

Among the remains of the war dead collected in countries such as the former Soviet Union, the Philippines, and Indonesia by government-dispatched groups tasked with collecting the remains of the war dead and others, 629 remains, which cannot be returned to their families, were entombed at the Cemetery on this occasion.

Participants in the ceremony included Prime Minister Fukuda, ambassadors to Japan, representatives from related organizations, and bereaved family members, all of whom paid their respects to the war dead.
